Carl Ashton O’Neil Gray Fitzgerald, 25, was shot and killed in the 1300 block of T Street Northwest in Washington, D.C., on May 26, 2009, at about 12:23 a.m. The shooting occurred near the Pure Lounge nightclub, where Fitzgerald and friends from a hip-hop group sometimes performed; friends said he had been unusually quiet that night.

Within an hour of Fitzgerald’s death, two longtime friends — Audrey Bryant, 48, and her common-law husband Keith Arness Jordan, 44 — were fatally shot inside their home in Fort Washington, Maryland. Police described the Fort Washington double homicide as connected to the D.C. killing and called it a targeted assassination. Investigators recovered a vehicle matching one seen at both scenes.

No one had been publicly charged in any of the three deaths. Family members said Metropolitan Police told them a man they believed to be a suspect in Fitzgerald’s killing had been arrested on an unrelated gun charge, but no definitive suspect or motive had been announced and the case had grown cold. If anyone knew Fitzgerald, Bryant, or Jordan or has information about that night, please come forward.
