Anyone else find it intriguing how the search teams back in 1938 included an airplane for surveying the area from above? It seems pretty advanced for the time, especially considering how remote the area was. I wonder if that gave any significant advantage in trying to locate Hickle or if it was more of a 'last-resort' measure after ground searches hit a wall. With such dense woods and swamps, I can imagine it would be challenging to spot anything from the air. Plus, bad weather rolled in soon after, so maybe the timing didn’t work out in their favor. Still, it's impressive to see how much effort and resources were pulled together, even back then. Anyone knows of other cases from that era where aerial search tactics made a difference?
