Anyone else find it odd that Ricky Nelms was never reported missing until July 1988, even though his family hadn’t heard from him since February? I get that he was often out of contact, but five months seems like a long time. Maybe it was sentimentality or optimism on the part of his family, hoping he'd show up despite the silence. It makes me wonder how many other missing person cases go unreported simply because people assume their loved one will eventually return. It's such a different world now, with everyone being so easily reachable. I hope the new leads help bring some closure to the family after all these years.
