Bobby Lee Jackson, 29, was found shot multiple times in the back and dead in a lawn chair near 60th and Eads Streets NE in Washington, D.C., during the early morning hours of Saturday, June 25, 2011. Investigators estimate the shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m.; numerous shell casings were recovered at the scene.

A significant delay in reporting—more than an hour passed before anyone called 911—hampered the initial investigation. Canvassing turned up residents who said they either did not hear gunfire or assumed the sounds were fireworks, and detectives later described a lack of community cooperation.

No strong suspects were identified and no arrests were made as the case went cold. A makeshift memorial marked the spot and Bobby Jackson Sr. publicly appealed for information.

If anyone knew Bobby or heard or saw something that night, please come forward with information.
