It really hits home to think about how these tragedies affect not just the victims’ families but the entire community. I was reading about how the community of Selma holds these memorial services, and it's incredibly important for people to come together during such difficult times. I attended a few of these services myself in the past, and they offer a space for everyone who is hurting to support one another and remember the lives that were tragically cut short. Losing two young men, Wendell and Johnny, in such a violent manner is truly devastating. It's a reminder of how crucial it is for the community to push for changes that could hopefully prevent such incidents in the future. Sending strength to all those affected.
Has anyone else been following the case of Wendell DeAndre Pullom and Johnny Bonner III? I've been thinking a lot about how the shootings occurred in a residential area – it's terrifying to imagine something like that happening so close to home for people living there. I read that the incident took place in the early morning hours on Ceola L. Miller Avenue, which raises so many questions about what might have led to such a violent outcome at that time. It's so unsettling, especially considering Selma's struggles with increasing violence. I can't stop thinking about how their families must feel, facing these tragic losses as the holidays were approaching. I hope the community comes together to support them and push for solutions to the rising violence. Sending love to their families and everyone impacted. <3
Does anyone else feel like there's been more to this than we're being told? The whole community is left with questions about why this happened and what exactly led to the loss of Wendell and Johnny. It’s difficult to believe that such promising lives were cut short so suddenly. Having spent my whole life in Selma, the recent uptick in violence is jarring and unsettling. After hearing about Wendell’s funeral taking place at New Live Oak Cemetery, it hit close to home—this is happening right on our doorstep, and it isn’t something that just goes away quickly for those left behind. My heart goes out to their families and everyone affected. We owe it to them to push for answers and hopefully prevent more tragedies like this from happening again. If anyone has more details or thoughts, it might help us piece together the bigger picture and support the families in their time of need.
