David Lee Robinson was 19 when he was shot and killed in the early morning hours of January 8, 2012, on the 5700 block of Foote Street NE in Washington, D.C. Reports say the shooting stemmed from a robbery over a pair of Nike sneakers he had owned for 17 days. He was taken to Howard University Hospital after being struck in the chest; a bullet hit his aorta and he was pronounced dead at 3:13 a.m.
Robinson was awaiting the birth of his son, who was born four months after the killing and never met his father. Despite public attention at the time and an official motive listed as robbery, no one has been identified or apprehended in connection with the shooting and the case remains unsolved.
Did anyone in the neighborhood or anyone who knew David in 2012 see or hear anything that could help bring clarity to what happened?
