I’ve been following Destiny Washington’s case, and I can’t stop thinking about the impact this senseless act of violence has had on her family and community. As a fellow student, the thought that something as everyday as selling an item online could end tragically like this is genuinely terrifying. It's a stark reminder of how important it is to prioritize safety during these transactions. I noticed some local campuses have started to implement safe exchange zones. I hope UAB and other universities are considering this step. It's a small measure, but it could prevent future tragedies. My heart goes out to Destiny’s family and friends. They deserve justice and the assurance that her story will lead to positive changes. Has anybody heard if there have been any new initiatives at UAB regarding campus safety after what happened?
