I can't stop thinking about how young Jody Goodwin is—16 years old and already charged with two counts of murder. It's just so tragic on multiple levels. I feel for Larry Friendly's loved ones who have to grapple with the loss but also for Jody's family, who must be in shock. I can't even imagine what the families are going through. It's just not supposed to be like this. So many lives affected forever. Anyone have thoughts on how we as a community can better support young people to prevent tragedies like this in the future?
Did anyone ever find out more about why Jody Goodwin was in that area on the night Larry Friendly was shot? It seems so strange for a teenager to be involved in such a serious crime. I can’t stop thinking about how Larry’s family must be feeling—not only losing him in such a violent way, but also knowing that his killer was so young. It breaks my heart to imagine how someone so young could be caught up in something so tragic. Does anyone have any insights or updates? The whole situation is so baffling.
I keep thinking about the location where Larry Friendly was killed—the 4600 block of Virginia Pines Lane. I drive by there sometimes, and it's hard to believe something so terrible happened in a neighborhood many have always considered peaceful. It just makes you realize that these things can happen anywhere and to anyone. My thoughts are with Larry's friends and family during this difficult time. I read that his funeral was at Phillips-Riley Funeral Home. It must have been so tough for everyone who gathered to pay their last respects just a week after his life was taken. I hope justice is served and that those who knew Larry find some peace.
