Lawrence Neal Jr., 39 and known to family as Bones, disappeared from his Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood in the spring of 2011. He was last seen May 23 near Buena Vista Terrace, SE, where his life would later come to an end.

On September 25 skeletal remains were found in the 2800 block of Buena Vista Terrace, SE. Dental comparison confirmed the remains were Neal’s. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide, though the precise cause of death was not determined. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch took over the case and a reward was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction, but the investigation has gone cold and no arrests or suspects have been publicly identified.

Anyone who knew Neal, saw activity in the Buena Vista Terrace area in late May 2011, or has information that could help investigators is urged to come forward.
