I was reading about Ronnie Phifer, and one detail that really resonates with me is just how deeply valued he was within his community. By all accounts, he seemed to have been something of a community pillar. Losing someone who played such a visible role in bringing people together is an enormous loss, not just for his family, but for his friends and neighbors who knew him as "that guy" who could always be counted on. The fact that this tragedy unfolded so quickly—not only claiming the life of someone so dear but also ripping a sense of security away from so many—is just beyond comprehension. Ronnie seems like he was someone who could light up a room, and to see that light extinguished so violently just doesn’t sit right.
