Gregory Darnell Troxler, 21, was shot and killed on October 10, 2012 in the 1100 block of 8th Street NE in Washington, D.C. Gunfire was reported at about 3:51 p.m.; officers and D.C. Fire and EMS found Troxler with fatal gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch arrested 18-year-old Kevon Marquis Austin during a traffic stop; he was charged with second-degree murder while armed and held without bail after a judge found probable cause. Prosecutors dropped the murder charge in February 2013 just before a scheduled preliminary hearing and Austin was released. At the time of the shooting Austin had been on GPS monitoring for another case, but the device had stopped transmitting less than an hour before Troxler was killed. Witnesses had identified Austin from photos and others placed someone matching his description near the scene.

No further suspects or arrests have been announced. Does anyone have information about Troxler, his movements that afternoon, or the investigation that could help fill remaining gaps?
