On the night of October 26, 2013, 23-year-old William Deon Howard was shot in the 3000 block of Stanton Road SE in Washington, D.C. Police were called at about 11:14 p.m.; when officers arrived they found Howard and a woman with gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel pronounced Howard dead at the scene; the woman was taken to a hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

The Metropolitan Police Department ruled the case a homicide and opened an investigation. In November 2013 police released video of a man identified as a person of interest after footage showed a physical altercation in daylight. No arrests have been publicly announced and the motive has not been released, leaving the case unsolved.
