Jeffrey Jarrell Garnett, 25, was found dead in the early morning of Sunday, November 3, 2013. Members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division discovered him at about 6:37 a.m. in the 3500 block of Stanton Road SE after coming across the scene while canvassing for a separate investigation. He was unconscious and unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound; emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy.

The Metropolitan Police Department is treating the death as a homicide and has asked the public for help. A substantial reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction. No arrests or suspects have been publicly announced and the investigation remains open.
