In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 3, 2013, the life of Jeffrey Jarrell Garnett, a 25-year-old Black male from Southeast, Washington, D.C., was tragically cut short. His body was discovered by members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at approximately 6:37 a.m. in the 3500 block of Stanton Road, SE. The officers were in the area canvassing for a separate investigation when they came across the grim scene.
Garnett was found unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical services personnel were called to the location but found no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the fatal shooting as a homicide.
Authorities have reached out to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. A substantial reward has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Jeffrey Garnett's death.
