Seventeen-year-old Anthony Davon Benson was shot and killed on the evening of May 1, 2015, in the 5700 block of Georgia Avenue NW in Northwest Washington, D.C. Police officers on patrol heard the gunfire at approximately 7:12 p.m. and found Benson with gunshot wounds; he was taken to a hospital where he later died. Benson was from Oxon Hill, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide investigation. In the immediate aftermath no suspects had been identified and the motive was listed as unclear. The case was included among the city’s unsolved homicides for 2015, and authorities offered a substantial reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
