On the morning of Thursday, June 25, 2015, Stephon Marquis Perkins, a 21-year-old Black man from Maryland, was found lying in the street near 16th and Galen Streets SE in Southeast Washington, D.C., suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers on patrol discovered Perkins at about 3:44 a.m.; he was taken to a local hospital but died of his injuries.
The Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide investigation and assigned detectives from the Homicide Branch. Authorities asked the public for help and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Public reports describe the case as unsolved with no arrests or suspects publicly identified and limited detail about why Perkins was at that location in the pre-dawn hours.
Does anyone have information about Perkins, his movements that night, or the area around 16th and Galen Streets SE that could help investigators?
