MY condolences

I have been following this case very closely also over the last 8-9 months. I actually know family members of both parties. I know that on the day of Cornelius' bond hearing,Burgins family and friends were called downstairs by the D.A. and told that Burgin was actually the instigator not the victim. This is a horrible incident that could have been prevented and I hate it for both parties involved. I was told that Cornelius had placed a warrant out for Burgins arrest back in mid September of 2024 for multiple death threats and further harassment with SPD. I am still surprised that there have been no further updates on this story. My understanding is that the whole incident was recorded on closed circuit video and Cornelius was cleared of all charges and released from any wrong doing December 2024.

First Burgin had no warrants on him, per the DA..he was visiting his 15 year old son who was in the apartment. Burgin had no weapon on him and if Cornelius was afraid of him which he saw Burgin from a distance, Cornelius should have called SPD. He took matters in his own hands and shot him 6 times, and Burgin was down with the first shot. He had intentions on killing Burgin and he did it when his 15 year old son was on the other side of the door.

If you actually did speak with the

District Attorney of St.Clair County , I would assume that he would have told you that Cornelius was not indicted and has been free of the murder charge since December 2024.

John Blake Burgin should not even be listed on this site or any others as murdered.

First, I want to say that I know members of both parties involved and this is a sad situation for everyone.

I was told there was a surveillance system that recorded the entire incident and Burgin was actually the aggressor.

I did some research and saw that Cornelius did actually call SPD to his apartment on 9-15-24 and filed a report on Burgin for death threats and harassment.

Case # 2024 - 088479

SPD Badge #119.

Hey everyone,
I wanted to bring attention to a small but important aspect of the John Blake Burgin Sr. case that's been on my mind. Has anyone noticed how quickly the bond was set for Adam Cornelius? I understand there's a legal process, but it feels like the decision came swiftly, considering the gravity of the situation. I'm trying to wrap my head around the justice system here and how it balances community safety while respecting the rights of the accused.
It's hard not to feel for Burgin's family, knowing the person charged with his murder could potentially be released so soon. The emotions they must be going through right now are unimaginable. I hope there's a tight watch on Cornelius if he makes bail and that the investigation gets to the truth of what happened that night.
I’d be interested to hear what others think about how bail is determined in cases like this. It’s a tough situation for all involved.

I’ve been following this case closely, and one aspect that’s been on my mind is the community's reaction to Adam Cornelius being allowed to post bond. I live not far from Springville, and I can tell you that people around here are really unsettled by the idea that someone charged with murder could be out on bond, especially with a condition as serious as a no-contact order with the victim's family.
I can’t help but think about how this must weigh on John Burgin's family and friends, knowing that the person charged with his murder is potentially able to walk around free while they’re mourning such a huge loss. Of course, the justice system has its processes, and everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but it doesn’t stop the emotional turmoil for those left behind.
Has anyone heard if there are any plans for community meetings or gatherings to support Burgin’s family during this tough time? I think banding together as a community might help not just the family, but also reassure other residents who are probably feeling uneasy right now.
