I'm curious if anyone else here has ideas about the specific weather conditions off San Diego on February 10, 2015, the day Richard Alan Byhre set sail on the Princess? I've been trying to piece together what might have happened and couldn't find detailed weather reports for that date. My thought is, if there were unexpected weather changes like strong winds or fog, it might have made a usually routine whale-watching trip dangerous, especially considering Byhre's hearing impairment. Normally, such conditions could have made navigation difficult, and I imagine it would be challenging for someone who couldn't rely on audio cues.
