Twenty-five-year-old Rashawn Lewis Wright was fatally shot in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Southeast Washington, D.C., on the night of June 9, 2016. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found Wright with gunshot wounds in the 900 block of Varney Street SE at about 10:26 p.m. He was taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch opened an investigation and asked the public for any information that could help identify those responsible. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction. As of the initial reporting, no suspects had been publicly identified.
