I was reading through some old case files and came across the story of Trooper Roland "Skip" Chevalier. It must have been such a tough time for his family and community. I can't stop thinking about the complexities of that tragic day. It seems like there were so many layers — a father struggling with alcohol, a son dealing with mental illness, and the unfortunate loss of an officer who was just trying to protect and serve. This case raises so many questions about how we handle mental health crises and domestic disturbances. Did they have any protocols back then as we (hopefully) do now? And I wonder what kind of support Trooper Chevalier's family received afterward. They lost a husband and father, and it's clear his colleagues held him in high regard. It really makes you appreciate the risks officers face daily and reinforces the need for better systems in place to prevent such tragedies. If anyone has more information or perspective, I’d love to hear it. It's important to remember and learn from these events.
