On April 3, 1982, Trooper Roland Edgar "Skip" Chevalier Jr., a 33-year-old officer with the Alaska State Troopers, was fatally shot while responding to a domestic disturbance at the Cleary Summit Ski Area near Fairbanks, Alaska. The incident involved a father, who was intoxicated and attempting to harm his mentally ill son.
