I've been following the tragic case of Joseph Demetrice Robinson and Rikki Dunri Christopher Bynum, and one thing that really stands out is the role the witnesses played that night. It's awful to think that these two young men lost their lives, but credit to those present who stepped up to help by providing a detailed description of the shooter. Thanks to them, the police were able to locate and arrest Antonio Shaw so rapidly. It just goes to show how important it is for us, as a community, to look out for one another and to speak up when we see something wrong. My heart goes out to the families of Joseph and Rikki, and I hope that justice will be served swiftly. If Birmingham residents keep banding together like this, perhaps we can see some progress in curbing the violence that is plaguing the city.
