I’ve been following the case of Orlando Robinson, and I can’t stop thinking about the impact his passing has had on his students. As someone who grew up in Birmingham and attended West End Academy, I know firsthand how close-knit that community is. Losing a teacher like Mr. Robinson is beyond devastating—not just for the students, but for the whole school. From what I’ve read, he was one of those educators who went the extra mile for his kids. The fact that the district had to bring in a crisis team tells me just how deep this loss runs. Many of these young kids likely saw him as more than just a teacher. He was maybe a mentor, a friend, or a stable figure in their lives. I hope the students and staff are given the support they need to navigate this tragedy. It's not something you just get over quickly. My heart goes out to them and Mr. Robinson's loved ones. Teachers like him truly make a difference, and it's a huge tragedy to lose someone like that.

Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact that Orlando Robinson had on his students at West End Academy. It’s such a devastating loss for those kids who looked up to him every day. From what I’ve read, he was more than just a teacher—he was a mentor and role model, someone who really cared about making a difference in their lives. There’s a lot of focus on the legal aspects of this case, but I want to remind everyone of the human aspect. We need to remember that a community, especially at the school, has been deeply affected. I can’t imagine how his students are coping, knowing that someone who encouraged and inspired them won’t be there anymore. Can we think of ways to support these kids during such a tough time? If anyone has ideas or knows of local initiatives, please share. Also, if anyone else here knew Orlando or has stories about his teaching and his effect on students, I’d love to hear them. Sharing memories might help create a picture for those of us who didn’t have the chance to meet him, but want to honor his legacy. Thanks, everyone.
