I've been reading up on Christopher Gillum's case, and I keep thinking about all the moments and milestones his life could have held. Just imagining how much was taken away from him and his loved ones is painful. As someone who comes from a tight-knit neighborhood, I can't help but think about how his friends who were with him that night must be feeling. It's such a tough experience to go through something so traumatic and still have to carry on. I hope they know they aren’t alone and have people to lean on. His story really brings home how pervasive gun violence is in our communities, and I sincerely hope that we can inspire change to prevent more young lives from being cut short like this.

I've been thinking a lot about the impact of Christopher Gillum's passing, especially considering how young he was. Losing someone at just 24 is unimaginable, and it makes me reflect on how fleeting life can be. What's particularly striking to me about this case is the location – N. 7th and W. Vliet streets. It makes me wonder if there's a recurring issue with safety in that area or if this was an isolated incident. For those who knew Christopher, it must be incredibly difficult to reconcile his loss in a neighborhood that might have felt familiar and, at one point, safe. I'm hoping the community can come together to support each other and work towards preventing more tragedies like this. If anyone has insights into how safety has been addressed since then, I'd be keen to learn what's being done to protect others. Thinking of Christopher's loved ones and hoping they feel surrounded by support.
