I was reading about Adrian Cheong's disappearance, and I can't stop thinking about the currents around Kuhio Beach Park. Back in '95, it was mentioned that the waters were pretty rough, and I'm curious if those conditions are typical for that area during June. It's been known that strong currents can disorient even experienced swimmers. I wonder if the local authorities or lifeguards had reported peculiar water conditions around that time or if there were any other incidents during that period. Has anyone come across similar cases in the area or any data on currents that match what might have happened to Adrian? It might give us some clues about what led to him struggling that day.
Has anyone looked into the area where Adrian's boogie board was found? Mokuleia Beach Park seems pretty far from Kuhio Beach. I wonder if ocean currents could have carried him that distance or if his board drifted separately after being lost in the surf. It just strikes me as odd. Are there any oceanographic studies or tide reports that were checked around that time? If he was having trouble and got pulled into a current, understanding those patterns might help piece together what happened.
