Has anyone else looked into the community response to the crime wave in San Diego during the late '80s? I came across some old newspaper articles and community bulletins about how the residents of Clairemont and surrounding neighborhoods reacted to the tragic death of Sung Yee Barr and other similar cases around that time. It seems that the escalation in violent crimes left many in the community feeling unsafe in their own homes. There were neighborhood meetings organized to discuss ways to increase security and collaborations with local law enforcement. I can't imagine how terrifying and frustrating it must have been for the families involved, grappling with such a personal loss amidst a climate of fear and uncertainty. It's unsettling to think that cases like Mrs. Barr's remain unresolved all these years later. If anyone knows more about the community's efforts to cope with and fight back against these crimes, I'd love to hear about it. It's important to remember these victims and the impact their cases had on the community.
