Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the psychology behind Charlotte Moriarty's decision to live under false identities and disconnect from her life. It's baffling to think someone could just start over like that. I wonder if it was a calculated move or if she felt she had no other option. Given her earlier disappearances and the fact that she left under different names, it seems like she might have been dealing with some serious issues. But then, why take Marx with her and eventually leave him behind? The whole situation just raises more questions than answers. Could she have had a conflicted sense of wanting to both protect and escape from her life with him? Would love to hear if anyone has thoughts or similar cases they've followed.

Since we're diving pretty deep into this case, has anyone looked into the psychiatric hospital where Charlotte was briefly admitted? I’m curious about the protocols they had at the time for someone providing a false identity. I know it was the late 70s, but it feels pretty mind-boggling that she was able to just disappear again. Did they have any sort of follow-up or system to check on patients after their release? Was there ever any detail on how long she stayed there and what her mental state was reported to be? Maybe there are some clues there that got overlooked. It just baffles me how she was able to slip away so completely, especially after being found that one time.

Did anyone else come across the part about Charlotte using a different name—“Jane Amea”? It’s peculiar, right? I've been digging deep into cases where missing persons adopt new identities, and it keeps popping up how some manage to stay under the radar for years. What intrigues me is whether Charlotte had planned this before the disappearance or if it was a spur-of-the-moment decision. Could there be more to her story, like influences or past acquaintances that pushed her in this direction? It seems like she was really determined to start fresh, but I wonder what her endgame was, especially since she left Marx behind eventually. Does anyone have insight on cases where individuals change identities like this? How common is it, really, or are some just better at staying hidden?
