Has anyone else found it odd about that supposed note Alissa left saying she was running away to California? It's just strange to me. From what I gather, she didn't take much with her, and leaving a note seems more like something you'd do if you were going to be gone for just a day or two, not permanently. Also, teenagers at that age—especially in 2001—didn't just bolt without telling at least one friend or leaving a digital footprint. I know it's possible, but something doesn't add up. Has anyone else looked into if she had any close connections or planned meet-ups in Cali, or is the note and phone call the main focus? This case just keeps gnawing at me.
Would love to hear what everyone else thinks about this angle.
Hey everyone,
I've been sifting through the details of Alissa Turney's disappearance, and something that's really bugging me is that reported phone call her step-father mentioned. He claims she called from a payphone in California a week after she vanished. Does anyone know if there was a trace or any records of such a call? It just seems odd to me that there's no verification beyond his word. In cases I’ve followed, authorities usually try to verify calls like this to rule out foul play or to confirm the runaway theory. Any thoughts on how this could have been handled, or if there’s more info out there about this supposed call?
Also, I've been wondering about payphone traces back then — was it even that feasible to track a call from one in 2001? Curious if anyone with knowledge of tech from that time could weigh in. Thanks!
