Hey everyone, I came across Arlene Day Abbas's case, and something that's been on my mind is her mental health in the days leading up to her disappearance. From what I understand, she was released from a hospital to a halfway house shortly before she went missing. I’m curious if anyone has more insights into what kind of support systems were in place for individuals like Arlene back in 1989? Given that she was battling schizophrenia, I wonder if enough was done to ensure she wasn't overwhelmed when transitioning back to some semblance of independent living. Could a lack of adequate mental health support have played a role in her disappearance? It’s so frustrating that mental health care improvements have come so far, yet cases like this remind us of how much people have suffered when those systems failed them. Any thoughts?

I’ve been following the case of Arlene Day Abbas for some time now and I'm curious about her connections in Brooklyn before she disappeared. Does anyone know if she had any friends or acquaintances in the area who might have seen or heard from her during that time? It seems like finding out who she might have been interacting with could provide some leads. I hope her family can get some answers soon. If anyone has thoughts or insights, especially from folks who lived in the area back then, it would be great to hear.
