I've been thinking about something that might seem trivial but could be important—Jeffrey Ashford's pager. Back in 1998, pagers were not that common for everyone to have, especially for college students. I'm curious about who had the number to contact him that day. Did the police ever track down the records of who sent that page? I know phone records were different back then, but pager companies must have had some logs, right? It might provide some leads on who he was meeting. Anyone heard if this angle was investigated?
