I was reading about Michael J. Woodward's case again, and something that stands out to me is the massive initial search effort. It's just astonishing. 400 soldiers, volunteers with horses, and even helicopters! It shows how seriously everyone took Michael's disappearance right from the start. It's so puzzling that despite all these resources, not a single clue turned up. Does anyone know if there were other cases in the area around the same time that might suggest a pattern? It just seems so strange that he could vanish without leaving a trace, especially with such a big search. I hope the family gets the answers they deserve someday.
Has anyone looked into the fort's history around the time Michael went missing? I've been diving into archives, and it's fascinating how Fort Jackson was bustling with military activities in 1972. Perhaps there's a connection or some overlooked detail that's buried in those records. I’m curious if they ever tracked any military personnel passing through at the time. With the substantial number of soldiers involved in the search, surely someone might have seen something out of the ordinary? Military bases can be small towns in themselves. Trying to piece together what life was like there might shed some new light on the case. Thoughts on where to dig deeper?
