Michael J. Woodward, a 9-year-old boy, was last seen on April 23, 1972, playing outside his home at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, while his father mowed the lawn. At some point between 9 a.m. and noon, Michael vanished, sparking a massive search effort that included over 400 soldiers, volunteers on horseback, jeeps, motorcycles, and helicopters.
