Michael J. Woodward, a 9-year-old boy, was last seen on April 23, 1972, playing outside his home at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, while his father mowed the lawn. At some point between 9 a.m. and noon, Michael vanished, sparking a massive search effort that included over 400 soldiers, volunteers on horseback, jeeps, motorcycles, and helicopters. Despite the extensive search, no trace of him was ever found, and his case went cold.
