Has anyone else noticed how peculiar it is that some of Landon's belongings were found stashed in a hedge nearby? I can't help but think about who he might have been planning to meet or if he had intended to come back for them later. It suggests there might have been some level of premeditation, or maybe he trusted someone enough to leave his things nearby. Could he have been coerced? Or was he possibly trying to come across as running away again to buy himself some time? The fact that he left those items behind seems vital, almost like a breadcrumb trail that never got followed properly. What's even more haunting is the thought that if he was meeting someone, who was it, and why has no one come forward in all these years? It just adds another layer to this incredibly puzzling case.
I stumbled across a curious detail while researching Landon Deriggi's case. It seems his near-blindness and refusal to wear glasses could have played a significant role in his disappearance. Navigating an unfamiliar environment would have been incredibly challenging for him without his glasses. I've been wondering if this might have impacted his ability to find his way back home, or perhaps made him more vulnerable to being led away by someone else. Considering his high intelligence, it's plausible he could have met with foul play if he trusted the wrong person. Has anyone else looked into the possibility of someone in the neighborhood using his disabilities to their advantage? It's been decades, but I think every angle needs a fresh perspective.
I came across Landon Deriggi's case while diving into unsolved disappearances from the '70s, and something struck me about those belongings found in the hedge. I can't help but wonder if Landon was trying to make contact with someone–perhaps a friend or someone he met during their camping trip to the Everglades? Given his high IQ and struggles socially, it's possible he formed some kind of connection with someone that his family wasn't aware of. If he confided in someone about wanting to run away or start fresh, maybe they were supposed to meet him there. It's just so puzzling, especially since he left those items behind. Does anyone know if the police looked into acquaintances outside his usual circle, or if there were other kids known to hang out in that area?
