I can’t stop thinking about the impact that witnessing the murder must have had on Shandy Roof’s son. It’s unimaginable for a child to see something so traumatic involving his own mother. I hope he’s surrounded by supportive family and has access to counseling services to help him through this nightmare. No kid should ever have to experience such a loss, and my heart goes out to him. It’s also frustrating that his own father was responsible for this, as it just compounds the level of betrayal and trust issues he might have to face. Communities often rally together in these times; let’s hope everyone who knew Shandy creates a network of support around her son to help him heal and find some semblance of peace.
