Miguel Servin, a 51-year-old man from Satsuma, Florida, was fatally shot during a violent family confrontation that began late on July 31, 2026, at a home on Musket Drive. Authorities identified Miguel as the father of 19-year-old Uyleses Servin, who investigators accuse of turning a domestic argument into a deadly shooting. Although the confrontation and shooting occurred on July 31, reports state that Miguel was still alive when deputies reached the scene and that he later died after being
transported to a hospital. An obituary lists his date of death as August 1, 2026.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office began receiving calls at approximately 11:16 p.m. after a family member reported that Uyleses Servin was pointing a handgun at people inside the residence. The caller told dispatchers she had fled the house, and a second call soon reported that gunfire had erupted. Investigators later determined that several relatives and children were present as an argument involving Uyleses, Miguel, Cecilia Servin and other family members escalated.
According to arrest records and accounts of the investigation, the confrontation initially involved Uyleses and his father. Authorities said Uyleses produced a black semi-automatic handgun and began firing. Miguel attempted to escape the house, but investigators allege that his son fired multiple rounds at him, striking him in the upper body or chest. Miguel made it outside and was critically wounded in the front yard. Investigators further alleged that Uyleses approached his severely injured father and fired another shot into his head.
The violence also turned toward Miguel's wife, Cecilia Servin. Authorities said Uyleses chased his mother as she tried to get away. Witnesses reported hearing Cecilia plead with him not to shoot before she was struck in the head. Deputies later found Miguel and Cecilia wounded in separate areas outside the residence. Cecilia, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics treated Miguel and transported him to a hospital, where he subsequently died from his injuries.
Other relatives were placed in danger during the shooting. Investigators said Uyleses had pointed the handgun at his sister and other family members before the fatal gunfire. Two adult men reportedly escaped through an open window because they believed they were also being targeted. Additional children were inside the residence, although authorities withheld identifying information about them. After the shootings, Uyleses allegedly went back into the residence, picked up a small child and walked outside while still carrying the handgun.
When Putnam County deputies arrived, they encountered Uyleses outside the home holding both the child and the firearm. Deputies ordered him to put the weapon down, and he complied. Officers removed the child from him safely and arrested Uyleses at the scene without further violence. Investigators said the child was not physically injured.
Uyleses Servin was booked into the Putnam County Jail and ordered held without bond. Authorities initially announced two homicide counts, and subsequent reporting described them as two counts of first-degree murder. He was also charged with two counts related to firing a weapon into a building or vehicle, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of child neglect, for a total of eight charges reported in connection with the incident. The homicide investigation remained active in the days following the shooting, and the Sheriff's Office indicated that additional charges were possible as detectives continued interviews and reviewed the circumstances surrounding the killings.
Investigators had not publicly identified a specific motive beyond the family argument that preceded the shooting. Authorities also said they were still trying to determine how Uyleses obtained the handgun. Autopsies of Miguel and Cecilia were scheduled as part of the investigation. As of the most recent reports, Uyleses remained jailed without bond and had not been convicted; the accusations against him remained pending criminal charges.
