I find it so intriguing that Herrera's 4Runner was found near the Mary Jane Falls trailhead. It's such a popular hiking spot, especially in May when the weather is nice, so you'd think someone might have seen him if he was on foot. But then again, it's easy to go unnoticed in the vast wilderness. I can't help but wonder if the placement of the vehicle means he intended to walk into the mountains or if he was with someone who left the 4Runner there. The fact it took a year for some of his personal items to be found by hikers makes me think he might have gone into a less-traveled area, or maybe someone moved them there later. Has there ever been any search done in that high elevation area where the box was found? It feels like a big piece of the puzzle is right under our noses, but we're missing it.
