I've been thinking about the role of memory loss in cases like Barbara Jean Paciotti's. It's so puzzling and frustrating when someone claims they can't remember critical events. Dolinich said he lost his memory after he and Barbara had that argument, but can we really trust that? Isn't it convenient that he woke up in a completely different location with no recollection of what happened in between?
I've read in other cases that stress or trauma can sometimes lead to memory loss, but it usually doesn't involve such convenient gaps. It makes me wonder if it was real or something else was going on. I also wonder if modern techniques, like hypnosis or regression therapy, could have been useful here, though I guess it's too late now with Dolinich having passed.
What do you all think about memory loss in high-stress situations in these kinds of cases? Is it credible, or does it often seem like an evasion tactic? It’s just so frustrating that Barbara’s case remains unsolved after all these years because of things like this.
