Hey everyone,

I’ve been following the case of Thomas Cousey, and I'm really moved by the challenges his family must be facing, not having answers all these years later. It got me thinking about the role technology plays in these investigations, specifically the ShotSpotter system. In this case, it detected two gunshots right before the police arrived, but even with such tools, it seems the case remains cold. I've read that some people aren't too confident in ShotSpotter's accuracy or effectiveness, yet others feel it's a vital tool in high-crime areas like East Oakland.

I’m wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this. How much do we really know about how effective these systems are in solving cases, and how do they factor in when witness cooperation is lacking? I genuinely hope that advances in tech can eventually bring some closure to Thomas's loved ones. It's important to keep discussing these aspects, not just for this case, but for the broader issue of unsolved crimes in areas plagued by violence.

Stay safe, everyone, and keep supporting each other.
