I've always been curious about the equipment on Thomas O'Connor's boat. Given the rough waters on Lake Huron that day, I wonder if there were any issues with communication devices or safety gear that might have contributed to his disappearance. Did anyone ever confirm what equipment was onboard or if everything was functioning properly at the time? It seems critical, especially since water conditions can change so quickly on the Great Lakes. Also, has anyone heard if there were distress signals sent out? Wondering if more could have been done to alert nearby vessels.
Hi everyone, I've been following the Thomas O'Connor case for a while, and I keep coming back to the weather conditions reported on the day he disappeared. From what I've gathered, Lake Huron can be especially treacherous in July with sudden storms. Does anyone know if the boat had any kind of weather alerts or radio communication capabilities back then? I'm curious if they had warning of the rough waters ahead. Maybe someone local to the area back in '96 recalls the specific weather that day? It's weird how things can change so fast on the lake, and yet such crucial information might have slipped by unnoticed. Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated!
