I’ve been thinking a lot about that cold October night on East 96th Street when Donnie Heywood's life was tragically cut short. I can't help but wonder about the residents who comforted Donnie during his last moments. It’s haunting to think they were thrust into such a horrific situation, trying to offer solace to someone in his final moments. I hope they’ve found some way to process the trauma of that night. It’s maddening that a young man could be shot and killed, and over a decade later, we’re still waiting for answers. Surely someone knows something that could bring resolution to his loved ones. Just thinking about Donnie’s family living each day without closure is distressing. Let’s keep this case alive and continue pressing for the truth. It's tragic to imagine the panic and fear he must have felt, yet he still had the presence of mind to seek help. It breaks my heart that despite his efforts, the person responsible remains unknown. If anyone has information, no matter how small it might seem, it could be the key to finally giving his family the answers they deserve.
