Hey everyone, I recently came across the case of Robert "Bootsy" Grooms Jr., and something's bugging me about the timeline. From what I gathered, Grooms left the Katura Springs Assisted Living Center on December 31, 2008, but it doesn't seem like there was a substantial delay in realizing he was missing. People often return late and it might go unnoticed until dinner or lights-out checks. However, New Year's Eve and the adverse weather conditions would have made it more noticeable if someone didn't come back on time, right?
Does anyone have insight into the protocol at the center for dealing with residents who leave? I wonder how frequently staff checked in on residents that day, given the snow and cold. It seems odd they'd let him leave without a coat. Whenever the weather turned here, everyone's mom was on them about wearing layers. Do we know if anyone saw him after he left with the other resident? There's just something off about the way it unfolded, and it's been on my mind.
Has anyone looked into the friend who returned to the assisted living facility that day? It's strange that Bootsy and this other resident left together, but only one came back. Did the facility or law enforcement ever get a clear answer from the other resident about what happened after they left? Sometimes people might have memory issues, but I'm wondering if they might still remember small details that could be useful. If Bootsy left without a coat during such bad weather, there had to be a strong reason or change of plans that made him leave like that. Maybe it would help if they reviewed any interviews or statements from the other resident again for any overlooked clues.
