I've been following Eric Gaiter Jr.'s case since it happened, and it's been on my mind a lot. I wasn't anywhere near Akron during the vigil for Ronnie Travis, but hearing about the chaos and terror that night haunts me. It's just so difficult to grasp how a gathering meant for healing and remembrance could end in more violence. I feel deeply for Eric's family and friends — they must have a million questions. What's particularly troubling is that despite the presence of nearly a hundred people, no suspects have been identified. I'm wondering if fear is keeping people from stepping forward. Akron PD needs the community's help, and it reminds me of how these cases often hinge on courage and shared responsibility. If anyone out there knows something, however minor, I hope they consider coming forward. It's hard enough for a family to lose a loved one without also losing hope for justice. All I can do is keep advocating for more awareness and hope that someday, there will be answers.

It's so upsetting to think about the sheer terror that must have ensued at that vigil. A moment meant for reflection and healing, honoring Ronnie Travis, turned into something unspeakably tragic. Eric Gaiter Jr. didn't deserve to have his life cut short that night, and the fact that children and families were caught in such chaos breaks my heart. I can't even begin to imagine the trauma they all experienced. It's frustrating that there were so many witnesses, yet the case remains unsolved. You have to wonder what prevents people from coming forward. Maybe fear, or maybe they don't realize what they know could help. It's crucial for anyone who was there or knows anything, no matter how small it might seem, to speak up. The police clearly need the community's help on this one. Eric's family deserves justice, and the community deserves to feel safe again. I hope new information surfaces soon to give them some form of closure.
