It’s just so tragic to think about how a night of helping out at the store ended so horribly for Leonard. I read that he would often assist his wife during late shifts to ensure her safety — he was clearly devoted to his family. It really makes you wonder if he knew the risks involved. Gastonia was probably a quieter place back then, and incidents like this must have really shaken the community to its core. I can't imagine how hard it's been for his family all these years, not having closure. Does anyone know if the store still stands or if the area has changed significantly since the '70s? Sometimes, visiting the place where something happened can provide new insights or spark new memories for people who might have been around back then.
