I just found out about the tragic case of Dasan Johnny Slim Halona, and my heart goes out to his family and friends during this incredibly tough time. What really stands out to me is the location of the shooting—so close to the State Fairgrounds. It's unsettling to think that such a vibrant place associated with family fun and community events could be so nearby to where something so devastating happened. I’m learning that this is the 11th homicide in Pueblo this year, which is truly concerning. I grew up in a similar-sized town, and it’s just shocking to imagine that the place where any community members gather can also be a scene of tragedy. I hope that increased attention to the area will lead to measures that create a safer environment for everyone in Pueblo. My thoughts are definitely with those working to solve this case—it must be difficult navigating through such a tangled mess, but here’s hoping they can bring some comfort and justice to those who loved Dasan.
