I’ve been thinking a lot about the housekeeping staff who discovered Marie Cushman's body in Carroll Edward Cole’s hotel room. It must have been incredibly traumatic to walk in and find such a tragic scene. Imagine going to work expecting a normal day, only to stumble upon something so horrifying. I hope they received the support they needed to deal with the aftermath. This situation also highlights the unpredictable nature of the hospitality industry's working environment, especially in places like Las Vegas, where guests come and go with little scrutiny. I can’t help but wonder about the safety protocols that might have changed in the hotel industry since then to prevent staff from encountering such traumatic scenes in the first place. My heart goes out to Marie’s family and friends, who had to endure the nightmare of losing a loved one in this way. No one should ever have to face such a devastating loss. It’s a stark reminder of the daily challenges faced by those working behind the scenes in hotels, often unnoticed until a tragedy occurs.
