Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the staff at Drake Memorial Hospital during the time Donald Harvey was working there. It must have been such a terrifying period for them once his actions came to light. Imagine being part of a hospital team dedicated to care and healing, only to discover that someone among you was causing so much harm. It’s heartbreaking to think about the emotional toll on the nurses and doctors who might have suspected something was off but couldn’t pinpoint it. They had to deal with incredible guilt and fear, realizing that someone they worked alongside was capable of such acts. And then there’s the challenge they faced in regaining trust with patients and the community after everything came out. I can’t even imagine the impact on their professional lives, let alone their personal ones. My heart goes out to the victims’ families and also to the hospital staff who must have felt deceived and bewildered by the betrayal. Would love to hear anyone’s thoughts on how workplaces can better support staff in situations like these or any stories you might have heard related to this. Stay safe, everyone.
