Alejandra Claudia Hernandez, a 24-year-old resident of Covina, California, was tragically shot and killed on January 12, 2019, in the West Valinda area of La Puente. Hernandez was visiting a home on Glenshaw Drive when an unidentified man, described only as a Latino, entered the residence and opened fire. The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m., and Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's office confirmed that the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
Hernandez was engaged to the father of her children and had recently started working for the YMCA of Orange County in August 2018. Despite her active social media presence, where she often shared updates about her life and work, investigators have not been able to determine a motive for the shooting. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has been actively investigating the case, but as of now, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made.
