Hey everyone,
I’ve been reading through the threads about Larry Donnell Owens, and something that caught my eye was the impact on the community in Durham, especially around East Main Street, after that night in 2016. It's clear from several news reports and posts here that gun violence was really spiking around that time, and Larry's case seemed to magnify the calls for change and a safer community environment. I remember reading about some community vigils and how folks held rallies not just for him but also to push back against all this violence. It's so painful to think of how many families have been shattered by these senseless acts and how each incident leaves a mark on the area. It's like every person lost is a piece of the community that can't be replaced. I wonder if anyone local remembers those events or how things might have changed since then? Would be good to hear some updates on any grassroots actions that started because of this. Thoughts and prayers for Larry’s family still seeking justice and for all those in Durham dealing with similar struggles. ?
Does anyone else feel like Larry Owens' case highlights a larger issue with the justice system's speed in handling violent crimes? I was reading up on his story, and it's so upsetting that it took almost three years to indict those two men. It makes me wonder if there are systemic issues at play or if this is just an isolated incident. My heart goes out to Larry's family and friends, who've had to wait for any semblance of justice or closure. I really hope that the Durham Police Department can get the additional info they need to finally resolve this. Also, does anyone from the area know if there have been any community initiatives or changes since then to address gun violence? Stay strong, everyone.
Hi all,
I’ve been following this case for a while, and I can’t help but think about the role community tips played in moving things forward after all that time. It's really critical how people who have information step up, even years later. I wonder if the breakthrough in 2019 came from someone finally having the courage to share what they knew. This just goes to show how important it is for community members to support law enforcement efforts with whatever they might know, even small details. It must be incredibly hard for Larry’s family to relive this, but I truly hope more people come forward and help wrap this up for them. Every little piece could be the missing puzzle. Does anyone know if there's been any initiative in the neighborhood to encourage sharing info anonymously?
Thinking of Larry’s loved ones during this difficult time. ?
