I just can't get over the profound impact Chris Carnero had on everyone he met. I didn't know him personally, but from what I've read and heard, Chris seemed to have this incredible ability to foster connections with everyone around him. It's truly awe-inspiring how he had more than fifty "best friends." That says so much about his character and the kind of love he gave out freely. The strength his parents have shown in the face of such an unimaginable loss is remarkable too. Opening their home and hearts to kids in need reflects the kind of love and kindness Chris learned from them. I've been thinking about the number of people who must have been positively affected by his presence. The story of his organ donation is both heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. It makes me wonder, what can be done at a community level to continue his legacy of kindness? How do we protect our kids so that the love and light they offer aren't overshadowed by senseless violence? I stand with his family in seeking answers and striving for change. The memory of Chris deserves nothing less.
