Did anyone catch the press conference about Lester Owens III and the Sheelers? It’s gut-wrenching to hear how quickly things escalated that night. I can’t stop thinking about the impact on their families. I'm trying to understand the whole self-defense perspective in this case. Michigan's laws do seem to allow for a broad interpretation, especially if the person feels they’re in immediate danger. But it still feels so unsettling. How can such an instinctual decision lead to such a lasting tragedy? Also, was it ever confirmed if someone from Owen's group actually had a weapon? Not that it justifies what happened, but it just seems like there are so many conflicting details. Sending strength to all the families involved. None of this should have happened.
